Your Guide to Being Gluten Free in the City
/I was diagnosed with celiac disease back in 2014 - before it was a whole fad. I’d go to a restaurant and ask if something was gluten free and the waiter would look at me like I was crazy or ask “what is that?” BUT lucky you!! Now it is so easy to be gluten free.
Whether you have celiac disease, are gluten intolerant or just trying to live the gluten free life for a few weeks, I’ve but together a list of all my favorite spots that provide the best gluten free options.
BAKERIES
BY THE WAY BAKERY - love buying my birthday cakes here, they have AMAZING options!
CITERELLA - if you are obsessed with banana bread like I am then you have to try their gluten free one, it is my favorite. Even my friends, who tend to be skeptical about the gluten free stuff I give them, love it too! If banana bread isn’t your thing, don’t worry they have everything so highly recommend you stop by at Citeralla.
BREAKFAST
SADELLE’S - if I could, I would have it everyday for breakfast. Love their gluten free bagels and just about everything they have. It is a must!
BLACK SEED BAGELS - my go to place when I want to pick up a quick breakfast.
CAFE CLUNY - so gluten free friendly, I love it! They serve gluten free burger buns and bread so if you’re craving a burger, go here but I must say, my favorite thing to order there is the Avo Toast.
TWO HANDS - love this place! I recommend you order the acai bowl and of course, their banana bread! Also, their scrambled eggs … I don’t know why but I find them to be unreal!
LUNCH & DINNER
Best gluten free pasta, by far, is at BAR ITALIA , RUBIROSA and BAR PRIMI.
SHAKE SHACK - on a cheat day, love a shake shack burger!
RUBY’S - love Ruby’s, they have so many gluten free options (the Bronte burger is one of my favorites). Also, you must stop by for their brunch!!
MAMO - absolutely love this place! not only do they have gluten free options (their gluten free pasta is so good) but the restaurant is also super fun and trendy. It is a great place to go with a group of friends or even a date.
SANTINA - while it is an Italian restaurant by the same group of CARBONE, they have so much more than your average Italian restaurant and the menu is entirely gluten free! Their lunch and dinner is great but I also highly recommend you check it out for brunch and sit in their outdoor patio.
ROSA MEXICANO - love a good Mexican restaurant and almost everything at Rosa Mexicano seems to be gluten free. My favorite dish is their Budin De Pollo but prepare to be in a food coma after.
